The Fall registration for NYS has started and once again welcome to our programs. NYS continuously attempts to improve the programs we offer. Between the In-Town and the Travel BAYS programs, we enroll close to 1600 players annually. We offer classes for coaches with advanced or no experience. Our goal is to maximize participation and encourage everyone to be part of our soccer community.
The following outlines the process for this fall and guidelines for registering. Please read this page carefully and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Registration is done on the First come First serve basis. Once the teams fill up, the registrant will be on a waiting list. Please register early!
NYS Intramural In Town fall program:
This is the larger program in the fall. All grades from 1 thru 10 are eligible to participate with no playing experience and no tryout required. For the In Town intramural program, we make all efforts to group players in teams based on school and school districts. We encourage you to sign up early since this is a popular program and teams fill up fast.
Multi registrants from same family discount (Intramural only):
The Intramural program offers substantial discounts when 2 or more siblings are signed up to this program. Once you complete the first registration, start the next one right away and the discount will be calculated automatically.

General information: The 1st grade program is for boys and girls in the 1st
grade of their elementary school. Games are played once a week on
Saturdays varying in time from 9am to 2pm. The season
starts the Saturday after Labor Day and usually wraps up in mid-November.
In general, there are no weekday practices held for the 1st graders.
NYS Travel BAYS fall program:
As in the past, for the fall Travel BAYS, we limit the number of Travel teams for U9, U10 and U11, but have no limits for U12 and U14. This spring, we'll be holding tryouts for the U9, U10, U11, U12, and U14 age groups and the team placement will be applicable for the upcoming fall 2009 and the spring 2010. Players not traveling in the fall will be placed on the additional teams formed for the spring based on the tryout results.
Tryout Dates and Times: Please check the tryouts
page for more detail
Tryouts for the Fall 2010/Spring 2011 BAYS season are scheduled as follows,
exact time and field TBD. The grade noted is the grade your son will be in
starting Fall 2010. Remember that BAYS teams are formed and stay together
for both the fall and spring seasons. NYS currently is planning to have 3
U9 teams and 5 U10 teams. For U11-U14, the number of teams will be
determined by the number of kids and coaches. Note that U16 and U18 play
only in the spring.
U14 (typically 7th and 8th grade) - Sunday June 6th
U9 (typically 3rd grade) - Sunday June 13th
U10 (typically 4th grade) - Sunday June 13th
U11 (typically 5th grade) - Saturday June 19th
U12 (typically 6th grade) - Saturday June 19th
Registration for the fall will open in May.
Tryouts will be 1+ hour
sessions. Please register online at least one
week prior to the tryout date.
You will receive an email from your Age Group Coordinator (AGC) a day or
two before the tryout with your assigned tryout time and the location.
Anyone with direct conflicts should contact their AGC (contact information can
be found at http://newtonsoccer.org/contacts.htm.)
Online registration:
NYS is in the seventh season using the new online registration process. The goal is to have 100% online participation and avoid using paper; we realize that some parents may not have access to a computer while others have a need for a confidential scholarship. NYS is sensitive to these issues and have allowed for these exceptions. Due to the paperless approach to registration, forms are not automatically mailed to parents.
If you absolutely need to register via regular mail or do not have web access please send a self-addressed envelope to NYS P.O Box 610308 Newton MA 02461. If you have access to the web please print the appropriate form and mail with the appropriate fee to the address indicated.
Volunteers:
We need volunteers! Please volunteer as a coach or assistant. The reward is spending valuable time with your children and at the same time keeping the parents involved with the community. Please indicate on the registration that you'd like to volunteer in the capacity of your choice. We offer clinics and no experience is required. We just need enthusiasm. Thank you.
Scholarship Request:
No child would be denied participation in soccer programs due to difficulties in making the registration payment. If you request a full or partial scholarship, you must do it by Email or mail via the paper form method. The system will not accept an online registration without a credit card. After receiving the approval for the scholarship, please attach the letter to the paper form application. To request the scholarship, please email Tal Sabbagh.
Late fees and deadlines:
NYS requires everyone to register early since teams fill up quickly and placement for late registrants is based on space availability. U9, U10-U14 groups must register by the tryout deadline in order to participate in the required tryout. Once the teams are full, players who register will be placed on a waiting list. NYS cannot guarantee a space on a team after the deadline.
A $15 late fee may be added to the regular fee when you register after July 1 for Travel and July 15 for Intramural.
Refund: No refunds will be granted after August 10.
(An Admin fee of $7.50 is deducted from the refunded amount)

Greg and Steve met on a Newton Soccer Field. Their enthusiasm and friendship remind us all of what is most important. Greg and Steve passed away together on a school trip on April 27, 2001. In their honor NYS has established a scholarship fund to enable children with financial need to participate in our programs.
Please register online early and make this a paperless experience a success.
Have a great Soccer season!
