Dear NYS Parents,

As a parent of a soccer player, you know very well that soccer coaches are great teachers.  Beyond teaching kids how to dribble and shoot, coaches instill important life skills like discipline, team work and sportsmanship in young players.  

At the end of each season, parents often wish to thank their children’s coaches with a gift.  If you’re thinking about making a gift in your coach’s name, we’d like you to consider the gift of soccer as a recognition. 

Vicky Stein, an enthusiastic NYS soccer mom, created an alternative gift program called Thank You, Coach!.  This program enables parents to thank coaches by making a donation in their team’s name to America SCORES Boston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing over 1,500 inner-city students in 20 Boston public schools with their only opportunity to develop soccer skills and play on a team.  This innovative after-school program combines the benefits of team sports – increased physical activity, self-esteem, team pride, and good sportsmanship – with an academic program that builds literacy skills through poetry and performance.  The mission of America SCORES Boston is to inspire Boston youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.

Thank You, Coach! is an easy and meaningful way to recognize and thank your coach(es).  Identify a lead parent for the team.  Go to www.newtonsoccer.org and click on Thank You, Coach!
