36 Years of Youth SOCCER
Newton Youth Soccer, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation formed in by soccer pioneer with the vision to promote youth soccer in Newton, Massachusetts. Our volunteer Board of Directors meets throughout the year. The Board sets NYS policy and runs the programs. NYS sponsors two major programs, an intramural program and a BAYS travel program. There is a separate organization, Newton Girls Soccer, for girls only. We are referred to as the "boys" league to distinguish us from Newton Girls Soccer, but NYS welcomes girls to play in its programs. Our programs enroll about 1700 players annually and we have one of the largest single town attendance in the country.
Every volunteer on the NYS board has a job. In the summer we assemble teams, locate coaches and schedule games for the upcoming intramural program. In the fall we run the intramural program and the fall travel program, run BAYS tryouts and assemble BAYS teams for the following spring. In the spring we run the BAYS and and a small intramural programs an get ready for the fall. Throughout the year we train referees, run instructional and licensing clinics for coaches, renovate and maintain fields and organize equipment.
