The Spring 2026 Grade 1 Skills program will cater exclusively for our 1st grade players as a supplemental opportunity to their regular programming.
Beginning April 15th and running for 7 weeks through June 5th, the Grade 1 Skills program is designed to offer an additional practice for those players who want to do more. The hour long session is split into 30 minutes of skill development and 30 minute of game play.
The G1 Skills sessions follows age appropriate curriculum run by professional coaches hired by NYS. Each session is 1 HOUR. It is imperative that players be prompt as sessions will start on time regardless of the number in attendance.Spring 2026 Schedule

This skills clinic is designed for new and beginner level players - for those looking for something competitive, check out the 2nd Grade Development Academy (2DA).

Newton Youth Soccer is delighted to bring back the 2nd Grade Development Academy for the Spring 2026 Season.
NOTE - this program is designed for more advanced players, or those looking to add a more competitive element to their development. For new and beginner level players, check out our 2nd Grade Skills clinic!
The supplemental program is designed to offer players in 2nd grade an additional opportunity to practice and play in a professionally lead environment. The 7 week program will provide 1 x 75 min evaluation session, 6 x 75min practice sessions with professional coaches, 3 x Sunday jamboree style game days in Newton and entry to the Danvers Invitational Tournament over Memorial Day weekend.
The role of the program is to offer a local option for those players who want a bit more soccer in their lives, and will provide a more personalized approach to skill and team development whilst maintaining the fundamentals of the NYS vision; enjoyment of the beautiful game. The Development Academy will combine high level coaching with low pressure jamboree game days in order to prepare our players best for 3rd grade travel and beyond.

Eligible Players: All registered IM NYS 2nd grade players
Day: THURSDAY practice sessions with Jamborees on three Sundays PLUS Memorial Day w/e event.
Where: Forte Field, California St, Newton
Time: 5-6:15pm

Practices: 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28, 6/4
Jamborees: Sunday 5/3, 5/17, 6/7
Danvers Invitational Tournament: Saturday 5/23 OR 5/24 TBC

THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR MORE ADVANCED PLAYERS. BEGINNERS AND NEW PLAYERS SHOULD CONSIDER THE 2ND GRADE SKILLS PROGRAM
Additional information:
Space is limited to the first 60 players with the aim to have 4 to 6 'teams' created after the evaluation session. There is no tryout - every player is welcome. All players will practice at the same time and same location, but teams of 8-10 will be created to give an even spread of ability. Competitive jamboree games are crucial to this program.PROGRAM REQUIRES 32 PLAYERS TO RUN.
Friend requests for teams will not be considered.
All games will all be at the same location in the mornings on Sundays. Jamborees will see each team have 2 games. Coaches will referee to allow maximum flow.
