Scholarship Program

We recognize youth sports and other activity fees can be expensive.  NYS offers a Scholarship Program to waive or reduce registration fees for any family in need of financial assistance.  This is a confidential program that can include tuition, along with the uniform kit and other equipment, as needed.

Registration Listing

Intramural Program - Fall 2024

The intramural program is an in-town program (no travel to other towns) for players from grades one through six. Teams are organized by grade and children who are Newton residents or who attend Newton schools are eligible to play. Games are played on Saturdays and practices vary by age group. 

The Fall 2024 season is scheduled to start on September 7th, 2024 through November 9th, 2024. We do not schedule games over Indigenous Peoples Day Weekend.

Reminder that this is BOYS soccer. We do welcome girls that want to play primarily with boys. If you prefer you can go to Newton Girls Soccer to register for the girls program. 

Key Dates for Registration
Early Registration : $205 before June 15th
Regular Registration : $235 between June 16th and July 31st
Late Registration : $300 August 1st and beyond

In addition to the fee indicated, there will be a $20 per player fee that the City of Newton has implemented for any youth sports organizations using grass fields. This mandatory, non-refundable fee is paid directly to Newton PR&C every season and is in addition to the hourly rental fees paid by NYS.

REGISTRATION CLOSES ON AUGUST 14th
Registrations after August 14th will hit the waitlist and be added to the program on an availability process. Please register prior to August 14th to guarantee a place

Grade 1 Skills

Grade 1 Skills - Fall 2024

The Fall 2024 Grade 1 Skills program will cater exclusively for our 1st grade players as a supplemental opportunity to their regular programming (for 2nd Grade, see our 2nd Grade Development Academy; 3rd/4th Grade, see our Technical Training Program).

Beginning September 11th and running for 7 weeks through October 23rd, the Grade 1 Skills program is designed to offer an additional practice for those players who want to do more. The hour long session is split into 30 minutes of skill development and 30 minute of game play.

The G1 Skills sessions follows age appropriate curriculum run by professional coaches hired by NYS. Each session is 1 HOUR. It is imperative that players be prompt as sessions will start on time regardless of the number in attendance.

Wednesday - 9/11, 918, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 - 4-5pm
Friday - 9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25 - 4-5pm

Registration is for either Wednesday OR Friday. Players can register for BOTH

2nd Grade Development Academy

2nd Grade Development Academy - Fall 2024

Newton Youth Soccer is delighted to bring back the 2nd Grade Development Academy for the Fall 2024 Season

The supplemental program is designed to offer players in 2nd grade an additional opportunity to practice and play in a professionally lead environment. The 7 week program will provide 1 x 75 min evaluation session, 6 x 75min practice sessions with professional coaches, 3 x Sunday jamboree style game days in Newton and entry to the Natick Fall Classic Tournament over Indigenous Peoples Day Weekend.

The role of the program is to offer a local option for those players who want a bit more soccer in their lives, and will provide a more personalized approach to skill and team development whilst maintaining the fundamentals of the NYS vision; enjoyment of the beautiful game. The Development Academy will combine high level coaching with low pressure jamboree game days in order to prepare our players best for 3rd grade travel and beyond.

Eligible Players: All registered IM NYS 2nd grade players 
Day:  THURSDAY practice sessions with Jamborees on two Sundays PLUS Memorial Day w/e event.

Natick Fall Classic: Sunday 10/13 - event is OPTIONAL, but included in your registration fee.

Uniform: All NEW 2DA players will receive a black NYS practice jersey as part of their registration. All players must have the NYS IM orange jersey. Purchase HERE.

NOTE : YOUR CHILD MUST BE REGISTERED FOR THE NYS IM 2nd GRADE PROGRAM IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE 2nd Grade DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

Additional information:

Space is limited to the first 60 players with the aim to have 4 to 6 'teams' created after the evaluation session. There is no tryout - every player is welcome. All players will practice at the same time and same location, but teams of 8-10 will be created to give an even spread of ability. Competitive jamboree games are crucial to this program.

PROGRAM REQUIRES 32 PLAYERS TO RUN.

Friend requests for teams will not be considered.

All games will all be at the same location in the mornings on Sundays. Jamborees will see each team have 2 games. Coaches will referee to allow maximum flow.

3rd/4th TTP

3rd/4th Grade TTP - Fall 2024

Our Technical Training Program returns for the Fall of 2024

The TTP is designed for our 3rd and 4th grade intramural players as an additional opportunity to develop their skills. In addition to their regular team practice, run by a volunteer coach, and a weekly game, players have the opportunity to register and come to one or both weekly pro coached sessions

Following an age specific curriculum, our coaches will focus for 40minutes on technical development with 20minutes of game play designed to bring out the themes of the session!

Players must bring a ball, shin guards and water and should also wear their NYS training jersey. Sessions will start and end promptly.
